Language & Culture

At Wahkohtowin Wellness we believe language and culture are the roots to reconciling and healing the wounds from colonization. As such, language and culture are incorporated into everything we do. We recognize that there are many First Nations, Inuit and Metis people who feel disconnected from their families, themselves and each other. By bringing forward opportunities to learn about many languages and cultures, we are welcoming all First Nations, Inuit & Metis people with open arms. We will learn together so we can share our knowledge with the rest of Canada. We have much to learn, much to teach and so we must understand and support each other to educate all of Canada about our history, traditions, languages and values. We are different nations, with similarities and differences. When we understand and respect this we will be better equipped to support the truth and reconciliation process. So, if you have a specific language or culture you want to learn more about, let us know… we will do our best to incorporate it into our centre.
